For Splash 2010 we need your support again, for three new, worthy causes. You can check out these organisations and the excellent work they are doing for handicapped adults and children by clicking on their websites below.
First of all, we are supporting HAIM in Namur, a residential centre for 90 mentally handicapped adults  It has many projects requiring financial support, from organising weekly “music mornings”, to planning days out for residents, to buying motorised wheelchairs that have a big impact on residents quality of life. HAIM has worked closely with Le Verseau international school, whose pupils regularly visit and raise funds.

Then we have chosen WOUDLUCHT , a school near Leuven which helps children with special needs. Woudlucht provides individually tailored tuition to pupils, in a learning system for kids for whom normal basic education is insufficient.

Finally, we revisit a noble cause with NF KONTACT which helps children (12-18 years) who suffer from neurofibromatosis (NF) to re-integrate into society. They run a self-help group with volunteers and NF sufferers to promote awareness, improve understanding and explore ways to cope with obstacles and problems of living among ‘normal’ people. They need help in training the teachers.

And we also give a helping hand Nos Pilifs http://www.fermenospilifs.be/centre who swim regularly for us. Many of you have already helped us support in the past. They perform a wonderful job of social integration - helping handicapped children and adults find truly useful occupations and activities at their farm and shops close to our Splash swimming pool in Neder-over-Heembeek.

Of course, Lions Heraldic will also continue to help our regular and new charities, here in Belgium and abroad.

 

Over 1000 charities in 25 years
 

Over the past 25 years, Lions Heraldic has raised more than 700,000 euro for a multiplicity of charities. Some of these were large, such as the Multiple Sclerosis foundation; we also helped Semya with a bus for orphans in Russia, and last year we helped HUDERF, a children’s hospital in Brussels invest a significant amount in a new computer system, Doctoon, which helps children who are hospitalised.

What you may not know is that we have also supported almost 1000 small charities, locally and abroad, many of whom do not get the same level of public attention as bigger charitiess. In Belgium alone, for example, we have bought guide dogs for the blind, repainted a school for handicapped children, given Xmas hampers to pensioners in Les Marolles, bought special chairs for a babies’ clinic, bought video equipment for social workers, refurbished kitchens for homeless people, supported the scouts, bought computers for child care centres, and much more besides.

Often these small charities have an urgent need and they usually need our help fast. We’re proud of the fact that Lions Heraldic can do this, providing a rapid response where it’s needed. Many of you know these charities and causes. Indeed, often we found them because of you, and we look forward in the future to learning more from you about further such small charities, who look after the most vulnerable, people who really need support, and fast.

So please swim with us again this year. We need your support for Splash 2009. Together, let’s make it another Splash to remember, in the spirit of Lions Heraldic.

SPLASH 2010

 

Pour SPLASH 2010 nous faisons une fois de plus appel à vous pour trois nouveaux et magnifiques projets. En cliquant sur leurs liens çi-dessous vous pouvez avoir plus d’informations sur ces associations et l’excellent travail qu’elles font pour les adultes et enfants handicapés.

En premier lieu nous supportons HAIM à Namur. Cette association prend soin d’adultes qui ont souvent un handicap physique important. Elle a de nombreux projets requérant un support financier tels que des matinées musicales hebdomadaires, des sorties planifiées pour ses résidents, l’achat de chaises roulantes motorisées qui ont un fort impact sur la qualité de vie de leurs utilisateurs.

En second lieu nous avons choisi  WOUDLUCHT une école près de Leuven s’occupant d’enfants nécessitant des programmes d’enseignement scolaires individualisés adaptés à leurs besoins.

Enfin, nous supportons à nouveau une noble cause, NF KONTAKT . Cette association aide les enfants de 12 à 18 ans atteints de neurofibromatose (NF) à être réintégrés dans la société.

Cette association fonctionne grâce à des bénévoles mais a de la difficulté à provoquer les consciences, à améliorer la compréhension et à trouver les voies permettant d’aplanir les obstacles et problèmes de la vie dans la société normale.  Pour cela, NF a un besoin  d’une formation de ses professeurs.

 

Outre ces trois associations nous continuons à apporter notre aide à  Nos Pilifs   http://www.fermenospilifs.be/centre nageant régulièrement pour nous. Nombre d’entre vous les ont déjà aidés par le passé. Ils réalisent un formidable travail d’insertion social aidant les adultes et les enfants handicapés à trouver de réelles occupations et activités utiles dans leur ferme ou dans leur magasin situés non loin de la piscine de Neder-over-Heembeek.

Le Lions Heraldic continue bien sûr à aider ses œuvres habituelles et nouvelles içi en Belgique comme à l’étranger


Nous avons apporté de l’aide à plus de 1000 œuvres de bienfaisance en 25 ans !

Au cours des 25 années écoulées, Lions Heraldic a redistribué plus de 700.000 Euros à diverses œuvres charitables. De très grandes, telles la Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, des actions originales comme le don d’un autobus à Semya, pour des orphelins en Russie. L’année dernière, nous avons aidé HUDERF, un hôpital pour enfants de la région bruxelloise, à investir un montant important dans le système informatique DOCTOON, destiné à apporter de l’aide aux enfants hospitalisés.

Vous ne savez pas nécessairement que nous avons également apporté notre support à plus de mille œuvres plus petites, moins connues, localement et à l’étranger. Rien qu’en Belgique, nous avons acheté des chiens d’aveugles, repeint une école pour enfants handicapés, acheté des chaises spéciales pour une clinique pour nouveau-nés, acheté du matériel vidéo pour des travailleurs sociaux, apporté de l’aide aux scouts, acheté des ordinateurs pour des centres de soins pour enfants, et beaucoup, beaucoup plus.

La plupart de ces petites œuvres ont des besoins urgents, et l‘aide doit leur parvenir rapidement. Nous sommes fiers du fait de Lions Heraldic peut apporter une réponse rapide dans ces situations. Vous êtes nombreux à connaître ces œuvres et les causes qu’elles supportent. Souvent, nous les avons découvertes grâce à vous, et nous espérons qu’à l’avenir, vous nous en apprendrez plus à propos de ces petites œuvres qui prennent soin des plus défavorisés, de ceux qui ont le plus besoin d’aide, rapidement.

Nagez donc avec nous cette année. Nous avons besoin de votre support pour Splash 2009. Ensemble, réalisons un autre SPLASH de rêve, dans l’esprit du Lions Heraldic.

SPLASH 2010

 

Voor Splash 2010 doen we nogmaals beroep op jullie voor drie nieuwe projecten. Op hun websites kunnen jullie meer informatie vinden over het prachtige werk dat zij verrichten ten bate van gehandicapte kinderen en volwassenen.

In de eerste plaats steunen we HAIM gevestigd in Namen en die steun geeft aan zwaar fysisch gehandicapte volwassenen. Zij hebben verschillende projecten lopen, gaande van ‘muzikale ochtenden’ , een dagje uit met de bewoners, of gemotoriseerde rolstoelen die hun levenskwaliteit aanzienlijk verbeteren.

Vervolgens is er WOUDLUCHT, een openluchtschool voor kinderen nabij Leuven. Woudlucht biedt geïndividualiseerde begeleiding aan leerlingen waarvoor een normaal opleidingssysteem niet volstaat. Zij werken aan een project om de kinderen de gelegenheid te geven in de bosrijke omgeving fietstochten te maken.

Tenslotte zullen we NF KONTACT niet vergeten die kinderen bijstaan van 12 tot 18 jaar die lijden aan neurofibromatosis (NF), teneinde hen beter in de maatschappij te kunnen integreren. Zij hebben een zelf-hulpgroep opgericht bestaande uit vrijwilligers en NF patiënten om het extern imago te promoten, en om tevens de hinderpalen weg te werken die  een  manier van leven tussen de ‘normale’ mensen in de weg staan. Zij hebben dringend hulp nodig voor de opleiding van hun opvoeders.

Tenslotte geven wij dit jaar nog eens  steun aan Nos Pilifs   http://www.fermenospilifs.be/centredie vaak deelnemen aan onze zwemmarathon. Velen onder ons hebben ook al voor hen gezwommen. Zij streven naar een betere sociale integratie van gehandicapte kinderen en volwassenen door echt nuttige activiteiten te organiseren op hun boerderij en winkeltjes dicht bij het Splash zwembad in Neder-over-Heembeek.

Het spreekt voor zich dat onze club Lions Heraldic steun blijft geven aan oude en nieuwe projecten voor het goede doel , zowel in België als in het buitenland.


Meer dan 1000 goede doelen in 25 jaar

Over de laatste 25 jaar heeft Brussels Heraldic meer dan 700.000 € verzameld voor een grote verscheidenheid aan organisaties. Sommige hiervan zijn welbekend, zoals de MS stichting; andere voorbeelden zijn Semya – met een bus voor weeskinderen in Rusland, en vorig jaar HUDERF – een hospitaalschool in Brussel waar er een softwareprogramma Doctoon ter beschikking werd gesteld van gehospitaliseerde kinderen.

Hetgeen u misschien niet weet is dat wij ondertussen bijna 1.000 kleinere acties hebben ondernomen voor minder gekende doelen, zowel in binnen- als in buitenland. In België hebben wij bijvoorbeeld de opleiding van blindenhonden gesponsord, een school voor gehandicapte kinderen bijgeverfd, Kerstpakketten bezorgd aan ouderen in de Marollen, speciale stoelen gekocht voor een babykliniek en videomateriaal voor sociale helpers, een keuken voor daklozen opnieuw in orde gezet, sponsoring van scouts, computers gekocht voor kinderhulpcentra, enzovoort.

Vaak is deze hulp zeer dringend, en dit typeert onze mogelijkheid om op korte termijn te kunnen bijspringen waar het nodig is. Het zijn zeer uiteenlopende goede doelen, die vaak door jullie zelf zijn aangebracht. Wij staan ook in de toekomst open staan voor dergelijke voorstellen op kleine schaal maar die dringend van aard zijn.

Wij vragen jullie bijgevolg dit jaar opnieuw met ons het bad in te gaan voor het goede doel met Splash 2010. Laten wij er terug een memorabel evenement van maken in de geest van Lions Heraldic.
